2009 Clear Lake Splash-In Dates: 25-27 September, 2009
| Welcome to the 2008 Clear Lake Splash-In.
|
The 2008 Clear Lake Splash-In is scheduled for September 19 - 21. The Skylark Shores Resort docks will serve fixed-float planes and the ramp at the Natural High School field is available for amphibious seaplanes. Aircraft unable to land on water more than once will be welcome at Lampson Field (1O2), shuttle service will be available Saturday and Sunday from there to the Splash-In Venues.
The 2008 Splash-In will be centered on the Natural High School Field. The Skylark Shores Hotel will remain the headquarters of the event. The ramp situation was much improved last year thanks to the combined efforts of the City & County Public Works Dept, the Chamber of Commerce, Generous dontations from Paul "Bud" Roe, Clear Lake Kiwanas, the Clear Lake Main Street Association, and the Lake County Airmen's Association. This years ramp promises to be even better and larger. We have obtained additional ramp material from the manufacturer to help alleviate some of the problems found last year. Spot Landing and Water Bombing contests, vendors and seaplane rides will all be available as before.
For 2008 we have developed an online registration system which is intended to simplify the registration process and assist pilots in complying with new invasive species requirements imposed by the County of Lake. This is one part of their ongoing efforts to protect Clear Lake from the Quaga & Zebra Mussels and other invasive species. These new requirements virtually require advance registration by any pilot intending to land on the lake (either for the Splash-In or at any other time). An Invasive Species Inspection Affidavit must be filed by any watercraft owner prior to launching at Clear Lake. These regulations require advance registration and issuance of an inspection sticker prior to arrival. This new requirement was only brought to our attention recently, but we have, with the assistance of the Lakeport Regional Chamber of Commerce, been working closely with the County to modify our online registration process and fulfill this requirement on your behalf.
We had hoped to develop a way to submit this application online, however the language of the ordinance requires that the form with an original signature must be submitted directly to the County. As you proceed through our online registration process you will be given an opportunity to complete the form and print a copy that you can sign and mail to the County office. There is a $10 County imposed fee associated with the issuance of the sticker. This fee is paid directly to the County and must be included with your completed & signed form. The County has agreed to notify us when each application has been accepted and collect the stickers for all Splash In participants. We will receive a fax of your accepted application which we will forward to you by email. Your stickers will be available at the registration table at Natural High School when you arrive at the Splash-In. Please note, this is separate from the normal, voluntary Clear Lake Splash-In registration.
All aircraft operators must be aware that they are required to display the Inspection Sticker and to have adequate liability insurance in order to attend the Clear Lake Splash-In. Coast Guard Auxilary Members are patrolling the lake and significant fines have been imposed upon non-compliant boat operators.
If you are not bringing a seaplane onto Clear Lake, you may complete the regular Splash-In registration for your group, without the Invasive Species requirements, via the REGISTRATION page. Alternatively we have made the general registration form available on the website as a PDF file. Just Click Here, complete and print out the form to bring it with you. You may then pay the usual $20 Group Registration fee to receive your Event Wristbands.
This website has been created in an effort to provide more complete and timely information to those attending the Clear Lake Splash-In and to help spread the word about the event. With that in mind, please use the Tell-A-Friend link below to inform your friends about this site. Given that this is a new addition to this event, we are very interested in hearing what you think about it. Please direct any comments, questions, suggestions, criticisms, ideas, etc to info@clearlakesplashin.com. Tell us what YOU would like to see.
We are also continuing the Clear Lake Splash In Mailing list. This will be used ONLY for passing on information about current and future Clear Lake Splash In events and related information. Please sign up below. Keep in mind this is a double Opt-In list for your protection. When you sign up, you will receive an email from the mailing list manager. You must follow the instructions in this email to activate your mailing list subscription.
Two last items just for fun are the Guest Map and Attendance Poll links below. This allows people to place a pin on the map so we can see where everybody is coming from. The poll will track how many people are planning to attend.
