  • Q: When is the Clear Lake Splash In
    • A: September 25-27, 2009. Saturday, September 26th is when most of the events will take place. See the EVENTS Page for more details

    • Q: Where does the Clear Lake Splash In take place?
      • A: The Skylark Shores Hotel will be the headquarters of the event while the seminars and presentations and most of the activity will take place at Natural High School just down the street.

    • Q: Does it cost anything to attend?
      • A: Registration fee of $40.00/seaplane or $20/group or landplane helps cover Splash-In insurance and other costs.
      • A: The Seaplane registration fee includes the fee imposed by the county for the Invasive Species Inspection Program Sticker. See below

    • Q: What if I want to sell airplane rides, books, etc
      • A: Commercial operators must have temporary City business permit ($10/day) and pay $100 registration fee.

    • Q: Are there any special requirements for those flying their airplanes to the event.
      • A: All aircraft operators must have adequate liability insurance in order to attend the event.
      • A: All Seaplane planning to land in Clear Lake must comply with the Lake County Ordinance regarding the Invasive Species Inspection Program. See the REGISTRATION page for more information

    • Q: Is there a seaplane ramp and parking area available?
      • A: Yes. The Natural High School field is available for parking. Approximately 30-40 airplanes can be accomodated

    • Q: Can we park our amphibious plane at the Skylark Shore's lawn?
      • A: No

    • Q: What if I am flying a landplane to the event?
      • A: The Lampson Field Airport is very nearby.

    • Q: How do I get from Lampson Field to the Splash in?
      • A: Shuttle Service for Registered Attendees only will be provided by volunteers on demand between Lampson Field, the Natural High School and the Skylark Shores Resort. Your group will be asked to register upon pickup by the driver. See the AIRPORT INFO page for more information

    • Q: When does the shuttle from Lampson Field operate
      • A: On call shuttle service, provided by volunteers, will operate Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday morning. Call the number(s) posted at the Shuttle Stops for service, allow at least 30 minutes for response.

    • Q: How much does the shuttle service cost
      • A: A donation of $5.00/ride will help offset the costs. Again, shuttle service is reserved for Registered Attendees of the Splash-In.

    • Q: Where can I stay in the area
      • A: The Skylark Shores is our recommended lodging location. They block the entire hotel for our event. Other local lodgings can be found on the LODGING page of this site

    • Q: Are there camping areas available?
      • A: Yes...Limited - See the LODGING page for more information

    • Q: What kind of airplanes usually attend this event?
      • A: All types of seaplanes have been seen in the past. Including Lakes, Cessnas, Seabees, Grummans (Widgeons, Gooses, Mallards, Albatrosses), DeHavilland's, Siai Marchettis and many more. See the PHOTOS & AIRCRAFT pages for photos from past events

    • Q: Are food and drinks available at the event
      • A: Yes, This year there will be a refreshment concession stand

    • Q: What is the best day to come
      • A: All of the events take place on Saturday.

    • Q: How many planes show up?
      • A: On average 25 or more airplanes have attended. 2007 Brought 34 airplanes even with bad weather. See the AIRCRAFT page for photos and a complete list of 2002-2007 attendees

    • Q: Do we need to bring a raffle prize
      • A: Yes, Please do

    • Q: Is there anything else going on in town during the Splash-In
      • A: Most Definitely...The Chamber of Commerce and City of Lakeport are hosting a SeaPlane Festival in conjuction with the Splash-In.

    • Q: Is AVGAS Available at the Splash In
      • A: No. Amphibious aircraft can refuel at Lampson Field. Float planes have, in the past, transported fuel from Lampson Field. The Lake County Airmen's Ass'n may have volunteers available to help with transporting fuel.
